What to Expect

SCHEDULING/PRE EXAM

Scheduling an Appointment

Scheduling an appointment is quick and easy and you can set yours up by calling (XXX), or emailing us at (INSERT EMAIL). While many doctors may suggest you seek a second opinion, you do not need an official referral, as most medical insurance plans do not cover the costs of an Internal Vision Body Scanning. Many insurers and medical savings plans, however, may cover some of the costs as “wellness and preventive services” and we will provide you with detailed receipts for your records and any potential reimbursement.

We offer appointments Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Your scanning appointment generally takes an hour, although we recommend you be here 15 minutes prior to fill out any last minute paperwork or pre-scan information.

Proper Attire and pre-exam Preparations

Please wear comfortable clothes without metal closures, buttons or zippers. Women should try to wear a sports bra and avoid metal supports or underwires. We provide private changing rooms with lockers for all our clients.

Payment and Cancellation

Internal Vision accepts all major credit cards, as well as personal checks and cash.

Once your appointment has been confirmed by credit card over the phone, there is a $50 charge if a cancellation occurs within 48 hours of your appointment date.

AT YOUR APPOINTMENT

Our goal is to create a spa-like atmosphere for our clients that prioritize comfort and privacy. After registration, you will be brought to a private and secure changing room where robes will be provided for you. It is important to ensure that clothing or metal objects in pockets will not interfere with the CT scan. When you are ready, a technologist will escort you to the scanner room.

The Internal Vision Body Scan is a non-invasive, outpatient procedure that takes less than 20 minutes. During your scan, you will lie back on a comfortable, padded table. Before the scan begins, the table will slide smoothly through the scanner. You may be asked to hold your breath for a few seconds at a time while the CT scanner images your body.

The specially-trained technologist that will be working with you will be in both visual and audio contact at all times, should you have a question or require assistance.

Our goal is that you should not feel any discomfort associated with this exam. Unlike an MRI, the CT scanner is open, non-threatening and quiet. You will lie on your back and be asked to hold your breath for a short time at various intervals. You may also listen to music (or watch video?) if you chose. Many of our clients find the few minutes the scan takes to be a relaxing experience.

The scanning process is quiet, private, pain-free and takes less than 20 minutes. There are no injections or dyes.

CONSULTATION/POST EXAM

While you change back into your clothes, our team of technologists and radiologists will process and review your images. This will take approximately 20 minutes and is done on a 3-dimensional computer workstation. Once the initial image assessment is completed, specialists will sit down with you in a private consultation room and review the images with you on a computer screen.

In addition to the consultation with your radiologist, you will be provided with a written report and a CD-ROM of your images that can be viewed on any PC. For your convenience, we can also send one or more copies of the report to your primary care or specialist physician, at your request. If you would like, we can also assist you in finding a physician to follow-up any abnormalities detected in the exam.

On some occasions, we may recommend a repeat screening, based on the results of your scan. If our radiologist feels this is the best course of action, we can schedule a follow up appointment whilst still in the office.
